I smoked cigarettes for a while. It was a terrible/gross habit. Im proud that i have not had a cigarette in 18 months!

Dont see the point in it, its just another expense, its smells bad, destroys your taste buds, sense of smell, makes your skin look old and withered, is not a necessity plus i like my health....Yeah.

I never liked cigs or Thy María Juanita, even if my friends do. It's fine by me as long as they smoke pretty away from me, i know it might be relaxing and nice when you get used to it, but the negative effects are too many; It's like jumping off a plane without a Parachute, you might enjoy the fall, but i'm sure as hell you won't like it when you hit the floor. About drinks... heck, i can barely drink half a cup of white wine. Alcohol ain't my thing.

Ditto. Smoking killed my grandfather, and liver disease is prevalent in my family due to alcohol consumption. To all my friends who do it, I worry about you and wish you would quit. :(

No, I don't smoke cigarettes.  I tried them out a long time ago and smoked for a few years, but ended quitting (thankfully).  I get an occasional urge if I'm drinking at a bar (another thing I temporarily quit), but usually exert enough will power to prevent me from bumming one.  From my experience it seems that the majority of people start smoking at a young age in order to seem more mature, fit into a group of friends or because it seems cool.  Unfortunately those are all blam! reasons to start smoking.  And honestly, I can't think of one good reason to start.  It has no redeeming quality and nicotine buzzes are really weak and lame compared to a cornucopia of better drugs out there (not that I'm advocating drug use).

As the years pass by it'll get harder and harder to quit... it's pretty insidious that way.  The long term affects to the body are devastating.  I find it kind of sad that people begin smoking even with all of the knowledge and insight we have today concerning the long-term health risks.  Throat and lung cancer are not cool.  Neither are shriveled up black lungs and emphysema.  When you get a chance, take a moment to google some of the interesting things they've found in cigarette tobacco and filters, or check out some images of the long term affects of smoking cigarettes.  Hopefully it will convince you to quit before its too late.
