Broadcaster Spotlight #9 - Snakes Solstice

Tell us about yourself:
Hi everyone my name is Jacob Robinson and as of now I am currently swimming in College at Purdue University and I am also majoring in Management and some type of computer science with a minor in MIS, short for Management Information Systems. A lot of people might have to look up what that is haha. I loved gaming since I was young and it is still a big part of my life to this day.

What is your name?
Jacob Robinson

What is your Gamertag?
Snakes Solstice

Your name or GT will sound familiar to some people, why is that? Where would people recognize you from?
The usual reaction I get when someone sees my name is "You’re the guy that streams!" and I have to accept the fact that I am "that guy."

Do you use any other GT's that you would care to share?
Snakes Twitch or my current 1 month JRobs Snake

Why did you choose your GT's?
Many people have asked me if I got my name from Metal Gear Solid and I repeatedly say no. I got my name because my uncle used to call me Jake the Snake all the time when I was young and the name snake just seemed to stick with me. It is one of my favorite animals to this day and since most of them are green, the color stuck with me as well.

How young are you?
19

Where are you from, and where do you live now if not the same?
I have lived my entire life in Indiana and to this day have loved every second of it. Despite the fact that living next to a corn field used to scare me to death after seeing the original Children of the Corn. Because remember, "all of Indiana is just corn"

What got you into gaming, and Halo specifically?
I used to be a Nintendo fan because my Dad had a Super Nintendo when I was growing up.  I loved Mario Kart, Mega Man, Donkey Kong, any game I could get my hands on.  It opened up a new world that I had never seen before and I always wanted to come back for more.  What really turned me into a true gamer was when my brother would bring about twelve people over to our house and have Halo 2 Lans. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen.  I always wanted to join in but I was never good enough so I just played and played Halo 2 until I couldn’t stand to look at my TV anymore.  Halo 2 matchmaking was a blast with all of my friends from school. I never setout to be the best or even great but when I started to become very good at the game, my friends and family were surprised. Most if not all of my friends have moved on from Halo but I can say that Halo is almost a part of me that I never really want to let go of.

What are your favorite games when you are not playing Halo?
I am a huge fan of any RPG's like Fallout and Elder Scrolls but Star Craft and Age of Empires are also very high on my list.

Which Halo is your favorite and Why?
Halo 2 because it is the game that started it all. I made a lot of my best friends to this day through Halo and I would never give any of those long night gaming sessions up for anything.

What is your favorite gametype and map?
Halo 2- MLG Oddball Lockout
Halo 3- MLG TS Pit
Halo Reach- MLG Territories Sanctuary R.I.P :(

If you could only use one of the following, which would it be and why? BR, DMR or CE Pistol
BR because that was the first gun I used and it is the one that I am most comfortable with.

Have you participated in any MLG events?
I have not, unfortunately because the dates never matched up with what I was doing. Graduation, Junior Nationals for swimming, many things got in the way and the teammates that I found never jelled together very well and  most didn’t want to risk going because of the money.

What do you hope to see in Halo 4?
I just want a game with ranks and good hit registration haha.

What got you into streaming?
I stumbled upon Justin.tv one day and I thought it was one of the coolest things I saw and wanted to streaming just like the guys I was watching.  I started streaming back in 09 but never did much with it. Now I have been gone for over a year now because my college dorm did not allow the type of bandwidth I needed but over the past month and a half I have really made a name for myself and will continue streaming content as much as I can because I enjoy it so much.

How long have you been streaming for?
Near the middle of 2009.

What days and times can you normally be seen streaming?
I usually stream almost everyday and I am on at random times.

What are your favorite things about streaming?
Getting to meet so many interesting people.  I have met a lot of people that I would call very good friends to this day even though I have never seen them in real life.

Also, receiving messages like this:
Just letting you know because you inspired me to do it, Snake. I see the fun you have and you're not all up your own blam! about it.

So thanks for that. Keep streaming fellow streamer. Lmao. :)

What do the majority of your viewers like to see you stream?
Halo 3

What monitor do you use?
Acer 23 Inch

What headset do you use?
Astro A40's

What controller do you use, and what are your button layout and sensitivity settings?
I use an Envy controller with Bumper Jumper and 4 Sens.

Do you have any highlights from your stream you would like to share?

Halo 2 FFA

Overkill Snipes

2 for 1 Across Map

Do you have any suggestions to people who want to stream?
Make sure you love to do it and are not doing it just to get famous.

Please tell us 3-5 things about you that are interesting or that people may not know, but make 1 thing a lie.
1. Never tried pie.
2. Don’t like sea food.
3. Won an individual swimming event at state meet.
4. Wanted to be a cosmologist
5. Really wants to jump out of an airplane

False 3. Was on a state winning relay but got 7th in my individual event.

What is your favorite thing about Halotracker?
Just the ability to see my stats pile up as I play more games and finally being able to see some ranks in reach haha.

Do you have any shout outs or final comments for all your adoring fans?
I love every person that comes and watches my stream day in and day out. But shoutout to Dominator, Heathen, Grims, Lamp, and there are many more but cant think of them off the top of my head but you know who you are. ^_^

Well that is all the questions I have. I would like to extend a huge thank you from everyone at Halotracker for taking your time to do this. We are happy to have you in the Halotracker community!

Great read.

I've been watching him since before TTV. He was always one of my favorite streamers back when it was just JTV. Very humble kid. Always liked him.
