I am probably in the minority of people in the "Likes bloom " group.
I personally like how you can't just rapid fire every shot while moving and shifting directions and such and have every shot still be placed exactly where the reticule says it will no matter the distance.

I'm not saying I HATE when there's no bloom. Just saying I like when games require you to do a bit more than run and gun to easily gun down your opponent. I'd also use the saying "it's a bit more realistic" in terms of accuracy not being as high when  you're moving around, but then that would spark the flames of "LOL HALO ISN'T REALISTIC BRAH!"
Re: I am probably in the minority of people in the "Likes bloom " group.
One thing; how much you are moving doesnt affect bloom, only in games like CoD.
Generally, people hate bloom in Halo, because it is a poorly implemented mechanic that can significantly affect gameplay in a bad way.

But i get what you mean, because a lot of pro-bloomers argue that bloom adds an extra element into the game that you need to master to be good, which is quite valid, because its is easier to use rifles and pistol without it, and with bloom it makes the game more challenging and blah blah blah.

But still, if bungie did it right it might be good, but they didnt, so bloom lovers (who must hate H1, H2, H3......) should just be happy with fact they still have vanilla reach Team blam!, and not bring up this old stupid argument that should stay dead, so we can all focus our randy minds on H4, with fully functioning bloom :)

I get what you are saying TC, although I disagree strongly with your opinion. I don't understand why people think bloom adds a greater element of skill when it screws you over fr being able to aim.

Like I said, I already knew I was in the minority here. It's just how I feel about it. I don't mean it to be that it's skill. I just like how just b/c you're pointing at their face does not mean it will necessarily always hit their face from a distance.

At the same time though you can be aiming at there head at close range and miss constantly thanks to bloom.

There are certain modes where I believe that bloom should be permitted. I've been playing on the HaloTracker BTB.net team, Sidehard for the past couple of month. The BigTeamBattle.net game type uses the 85% bloom variant. Before jumping the gun on the competitive sites ability to provide a solid set up for competitive play, consider the size of Big Team Battle maps. Having the ability to run around and five shot across the map makes killing extremely quick, but you have to consider the amount of cover normally found on a Big Team Battle map. By allowing zero bloom, would be narrowing a players movement to the areas that have the most cover, which would require MLG style BTB arenas, which just isn't possible given the player's and the setting.

Bloom works for big team battle, however it needs to stay out of smaller competitive playlists where distance isn't a large factor.

People forget that bloom has existed as a mechanic since CE. There are 2 differences however in reach...

1. Bloom is visible via your reticle, which gives the player enough information to choose whether they wish to try to spam and trust luck, or whether they want to pace to make sure every shot hits

2. Bloom has been applied to precision weapons in reach as well as spray and pray weapons. Before that only bullet spread had been applied to precision weapons which is an entirely different mechanic.

Bloom is just really, really dumb in Reach. I don't get how I'm missing shots when my reticule is right on that blam!'s face. It's like the other person is curving the bullets away from himself so that he doesn't die.

I prefer no bloom myself. At the same time though, as long as people have the same handicap in terms of mechanics. I am fine with it. I actually prefer dmr with bloom over pistol due to increased long ranged accuracy and overall precision.
Re: I am probably in the minority of people in the "Likes bloom " group.
I like bloom and no bloom, but I think I'd rather bloom exist just so it penalizes spammers, although, I have been a victim of a spammer who gets away with every shot. I like it for several reasons. One of them being the bloom on the AR. This doesn't really affect MLG players or anything where you don't see an AR, but I don't think many people know that you can land long-range shots with the AR with careful bursts. Sure, it won't beat a DMR at long range because it takes 18 successful bullets with the AR to kill someone whereas the DMR takes significantly less. But, with short bursts, it can be a pretty trusty weapon. I've grown to like it and have become far more aggressive with it after learning efficient usage. I also like how crouching affects the bloom of the DMR, Magnum and AR. Most don't take that into consideration and as a result, get crapped on.

I don't mind bloom personally. I have had to get used to it for years now and I find that it is just a part of the game...it often times does not effect my ability to gain kills, but when it does...its a pain. People who complain about bloom need to get used to it, wanting to change the game like that and everyone wanting more changes ends up making the game worse.

If I had to pick a side in  the argument I would go with "Yay Bloom!" because it really isn't that big of a deal, and people who cannot get used to bloom need to practice a little more.
In the end. There can be only Halo!
Re: I am probably in the minority of people in the "Likes bloom " group.
1.  There are other methods of enforcing a cadence that don't make your bullets land in random locations (see: Beam Rifle).

2.  100% bloom works against the larger Elite player model, not Spartans.

3.  The redonk amount of bullet magnetism and huge reticle can actually cause shots that should have missed to land.

4.  Reach is already a slow paced game due to armor abilities.  Bloom just magnifies that slowness.

5.  Aiming is such a core feature of a FPS that when your bullets don't go where you're aiming it undermines the entire experience.
