Welcome to the HTR Mini Montage Editing Contest! This is your chance to show off your video editing skills for a chance to win some Microsoft Points, XBL Gold Membership or Supporter Status on Halotracker!

The Top 3 entries will be uploaded to the HalotrackerVids Youtube Channel and also posted on the homepage news.

There are 8 clips in total to use, 4 clips with several angles, HUD and no HUD, 4 clips with just HUD. You are welcome to use whichever clips you want, you do not have to use all of them. I have provided basically 2 sets of clips to give more choice to the editors, those who love using angles and those who prefer just the regular POV clips, or use a mix of both!

You are welcome to stage angles for the 4 clips without angles if you wish.

I know that 8 clips isn't alot however this is a Mini Editing contest. This will hopefully make it easier to finish your entry, we wouldn't like someone to miss out because they don't have the time to make a 5 minute video with the same caliber of editing throughout. I believe somewhere around the 1 and a half minute mark should be a comfortable time to finish your entry in the allocated submission time, whilst also giving the viewer enough time to enjoy the video without it dragging on.

The judges will be a select few of Halotracker members (including myself) who are avid montage watchers and editors.

This is for editors who want to credit the editor (themselves), the gameplay and the organisers of the contest, i.e. edited by edge, gameplay by edge, etc. This is commonly used in montages, so I wanted to let you guys/gals know which youtube channels to respectfully credit.

1) You must be subscribed to the HalotrackerVids Youtube Channel.
SUBSCRIBE HERE!

2) You must include the Halotracker.com Intro at the beginning of your entry.
DOWNLOAD THE INTRO HERE!

3) Your entry must be over 1 minute in length.

4) You must use music which won't get blocked or swapped on Youtube, I recommend using non-copyright music. This ensures the music doesn't get blocked or replaced on Youtube. If you know of copyrighted music which doesn't get blocked or recognised on Youtube, feel free to use it. If you are unsure whether or not the music you're using is copyrighted or not, upload it as unlisted and check it.

5) Make sure you set your entry as a video response to the announcement video. To do this, on the video link below, click in the post comment box and you should see a "Video Response" button/link.

6) Have the THF (The Halo Forum) Intro at the end of your entry

Wow this is awesome...well planned and organized.  

So video people, this is setup, clips provided, lets see your skills.  You may not be thinking about this, but this kind of stuff can lead you into a career.  Halotracker has certainly been on my resume and portfolios, and hobby stuff like this is just as important as experience or education.

I am pumped. This is going to be fun. Also I do have a noobish question to ask. There are VERY easy ways around the youtube/music conflict. If we can post a video with copyrighted music and it works good can we use it?

When you say stage an angle... do you mean set it up on our own, in our own game, or go into your clip and create it from your gameplay footage?

I am currently working on my entry :)
I have a general idea and music figured out for mine.

This is a great competition and well organised. For anyone who is not decided if they want to participate all the clips are well organised in simple files, no audio issues or quality issues. You could even enter this just using windows movie maker.
